MIMAKI INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED

Case Study

Challenges
Improvements
Although having responded to sheet-type advertisements such as outdoor graphics, outside posters, wallpaper, and graphics on floor, we were in need of another way of production as more requests for three-dimensional sign displays and sales promotion items for stores.
UV print using UCJV300-160 allows us to respond to various media. We were impressed by beautiful color development of Mimaki's white ink whose color density is high with no color mixture. It is used on wrapping film for vehicles, as well as on wallpaper and window film.

Our main job is production of construction signboards and safety signs, of which delivery time is as short as 2-3 days. In spite of such short delivery time, because of over 24h of required drying time of solvent ink printing, we had kept some customers waited.
The UV printer UCJV300-130 requires no ink drying time. It allows to attach the printed sheet on the construction signboard right after printing, which improved the work efficiency. Having the cutting function, it supports small lot production and contributes to cost reduction when producing products like stickers used at construction sites.

Challenges

We used to outsource printing on plastic parts and metallic plates, laser cutting acrylic plates, etc. in the process of manufacturing products, which took us a lot of time and money.
It became possible to do the laser cutting and printing processes in-house, which led to a cost reduction. We could also reduce the time for prototype production, which enabled us now to make various proposals.

We were exploring possibilities of new business utilizing our print technology to compensate for the decline in orders for paper-based print which we had handled with offset printers and on-demand printers.
Utilizing the know-how of data generation and proofreading that we used to do to process orders for paper-based print, we succeeded in moving into the new business field of original goods and novelties.

Responding to the diverse needs for broad-width digital printing exceeding 3 meters in width, the introduction of new equipment was absolutely necessary to achieve further success in business.
It is stimulating previously hidden demands within the advertisement and signage industry, leading to expansion of market share. Furthermore, we managed to grasp the opportunity to lead the curtain/table-cloth sector with the innovative broad-width digital printing technology.

Challenges
Improvements
We would like to introduce an inkjet printer and a cutting plotter to realize full digitalization of sticker and label production.
Mimaki's printers are quite convenient to use. Particularly, UCJV300-75 is excellent in cost performance compared to other companies' products. Our company has boosted its business performance as a rare digital specialist in the sticker and label industry, and has a plan to establish its 3rd factory in the near future. We also expect to enhance our online sales and develop new products following the face stickers.
Challenges
Improvements
Replacement was urgently required for the sublimation transfer printer JV4-180 upon termination of the maintenance/support term for the product.
High-speed printing capability accomplishing a maximum production speed of 115 sqm per hour enhanced productivity while declining the running cost. Additional fluorescent ink compatibility broadened the range of options offered to our customers.
Challenges
Improvements
The limit of print width sometimes forced us to print in an inefficient way. Inefficient imposition caused waste of materials and raised cost challenges.
Now, print width of 3.2m enables us to print large signage at one time now, including the finishing width for post print processing. Faster printing generated some cushion on the delivery schedule.
Challenges
Improvements
We wanted to introduce to our studio a textile printer that allows to express envisioned ideas more easily than honzome-dyeing, silk screen and digital textile printing.
With the user-friendly sublimation transfer, we gained the ability to visualize free imaginations directly on textiles, being free from design limitations. We can print it on site and immediately start sewing, which is convenient for workshop and well-received by beginners.
